I thought what not to wear to a wedding was a great topic for my blog when royal fever hit me quite late in the piece but my eyes were glued to the TV on Friday night to watch the Royal Wedding.
Will and Harry looking very handsome in uniform. Kate was exquisite wearing Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. So elegant and so now and almost a modern day version of Grace Kelly’s gown. And Pippa also looked so sleek in her bridesmaid dress. I loved it all.
Most of all, I loved the fairy tale that made the world stop and the masses line the streets to get a glimpse of a princess marrying her prince, stunning!
What not to wear to a wedding?
Seeing we are on the topic of weddings I thought we could take a look at dress codes for special occasions such as a wedding. Nowadays I am finding there is so much confusion around what to wear at such affairs and not only that I have also discovered that guests are dressing down more than dress-ing up which I find to be very disappointing.
1 Do frock up. You cannot go passed a fun and flirty dress when it comes to a wedding be it morning, day or night. Depending on the dress code carefully choose your fabric, style and length to suit the occasion.
2 Don’t or never ever wear jeans!! Phooey you say but I have seen it. Men try and get away with jeans to weddings but they are not appropriate, not even with a jacket.
3 Do wear a hat or a head piece/ fascinator. Now I love hats and if the hat fits, wear it. Nothing makes a statement like a hat. Give one a go but make sure you own it, if in doubt don’t.
4 Do wear colour. Black can often be our default colour when it comes to weddings or special occa-sions. Black does have it’s place but don’t be afraid to wear colour, it is so refreshing.
5 Don’t wear white, period.
6 Do wear a full length dress if dress code reads formal or black tie. Don’t be afraid to go all the way.
A wedding is a special occasion and a time to celebrate so you may as well look the part!
