Winter Fashion Trends 2013
Autumn has struck and sadly we need to pack away our summer frocks and get ready to layer up with some fabulous must have pieces that will take us through to winter. With every change of season fashion becomes a history lesson: always learning from the past while looking to the future. Forecasting coming trends helps inform our choices when we go to buy. What will be seasonal, what will last, what will be capturing our attention and inspiring our tastes 6 months or a year from now?
I like to check out the new and upcoming trends that will take us through to winter. I also like to use each season to determine where I’m at, how I wish to look and the message I wish to convey. So, let’s look at what’s in store for us style-wise this season and maybe work out if these trends will help express who you are today!
TREND 1: THE PRINTED PANT
Definitely a fun and bold look for the more daring kind. Avoid if you are a pear/triangle shape. It will draw attention to your hips and thighs unless you wear a longer top that will drape over that area.
TREND 2: LEOPARD PRINT
Love it or hate it, this is a trend that seems to always come back. The leopard print speaks sexy, alluring and confident!
TREND 3: STRIPES
Stripes are in again. Whether you like the nautical look or are fond of the French chic look, this style is a must for work or weekend wear.
TREND 4: LUXE OVERCOATS
Anything old looks old. Be bold, patterned, brocade, jacquard, printed, tweed, fur, jewel encrusted or maxi. Make a statement with the most important item in your wardrobe this winter.
TREND 5: LAYERING
Layering is the wardrobe saviour when dealing with unpredictable weather, and this season it’s about combining all your favourite items and wearing them at once, because why not? Make sure it’s comfortable, mind where you’re adding bulk and remember to include some slim line pieces in there to keep things looking fitted and chic.
TREND 6: MONOCHROMATIC
This is such a sleek and elegant look and is well worn by the true classic personality style.
TREND 7: FUR
Fur will always bring a little drama to any look. Definitely not for the faint hearted, but if you choose it, then own it!
While it is good to know what you love and enjoy wearing, it is important to choose pieces that truly reflect your personality. Personality will always win over colour, style or trends; just be you!
